Welcome to the 2019 South Island Limousin Breeders’ Group Bull Sale. This is

the 11 continuous year that the bull trial has been run and once again we are
proud to present a quality line-up of fifteen Limousin bulls that represent some
of the best genetics available in New Zealand.

The 2018-19 Bull Trial commenced in August last year. Our testing regime has
been rigorous and uncompromising and we again thank Bill Austin for being our

independent assessor. The Bull Trial provides a wonderful focus for South Island
breeders and allows each to compare their animals with the best from others.

The mix of animal types within this catalogue and the range of genetics should
suit the needs of all buyers. This year all bulls have been tested clear for Myco-
plasma Bovis as an extra precaution by Xcell Breeding Services.

The offering in the Invitational Female Sale includes three PTIC cows. Two inter-
esting semen packages complete the catalogue.

We firmly believe the Limousin breed offers the complete package as a terminal
sire. It adds muscle and retail yield without sacrificing the breed’s traditional

qualities of calving ease, outstanding feed efficiency and hardiness. The breed
has made outstanding progress in improving temperament and docility record-

ing has successfully produced a modern Limousin that is quiet and easy to han-
dle. Come along and walk around these animals and you will see what we mean!

We sincerely thank the breeders who have put forward animals for this year’s
bull trial. It is a significant commitment in terms of time and money and their
       involvement is much appreciated.

Thank you again to Merial for sponsoring the Eprinex drench and to Virbac for
sponsoring the Multimin supplement. We acknowledge and appreciate their

       generous support!

FMG has come on-board this year with an insurance deal whereby they cover

the first two weeks’ insurance on the fall of the hammer. Further information
about this offer is included at the back of the catalogue.

Finally thank you to Brian O’Connell and his family who have again hosted the
Bull Trial. Brian continues to provide an environment in which the animals can
reach their genetic potential. We are truly fortunate to have him involved.
