Locharburn 162 was purchased at the 2017 Locharburn Bull Sale
for $20,000. He was a bull with a lot of style and was extremely
well put together. He was a bull with great docility, lovely
cosmetics and came from a great cow family. 162 grew on to be a
real front paddock bull with great depth and capacity. He has bred
exceptionally well.

We purchased Gift at the Glacier sale on the West Coast three
years ago. We selected Gift for carcass qualities. He is a bull that
carries so much capacity. He has huge width and a big barrel with
a great spring of rib. He is a bull that should put constitution
into his progeny. We have used Glacier genetics before with great
success. We think Gift’s first line of sons in the sale look really
promising. They have great natures, are beautifully marked and
have great carcasses. We believe Gift has all the attributes to breed
good hill country cows- what the Hereford breed was always good
for.

This year we introduce Otapawa Spark to our sires. When we decided we
needed to be heading in the polled direction we needed a good bull to
basically knock some horns off our cattle. We decided we didn’t need the
most modern and fancy bull on the market but a bull that was tried and
proven. We wanted a bull that we knew would leave us the best possible
polled daughters that would be the foundation of our polled herd. We
chose Spark as we felt he was like the ‘Silverstream Evolution’ of the
Hereford world in N.Z. We are absolutely thrilled with the progeny he
has left especially the daughters. They are super attractive cattle that are
structurally well put together. They are exceptional performers with plenty
of constitution and ruggedness that we look for in our Herefords. Spark
has done the exact job we were hoping and has left some really nice bulls.
