Page 4 - Snake Gully Limousin Sale 2021 ebook
P. 4
FOREWORD
This year Snake Gully has once again suffered from the Northland drought
conditions. These bulls have been at the mercy of mother nature twice in
their lives and it says a lot for the Limousin breed that they have come
through the hard months with limited vitamin G as well as they have. They
are on average at least 30 plus kilos lighter than other years and you will
notice that there are many in our sale offering that were not born until
October or November.
Snake Gully has always tried to introduce new bloodlines into the herd, to
ensure that we have something that will suit everyone, including ourselves.
Unfortunately two of our latest imports have let us down badly. The first
one did give us progeny but the temperament has failed to reach our usual
high standard and so all have been culled. The other expensive semen
failed to produce even one pregnancy. As some very nice females had been
inseminated this has resulted in our late calves which is not a reflection
on the females who were unfortunate to be in the first few insemination
groups.
You will notice that there are a number of sons of Snake Gully Lucas in the
catalogue. This has been the result of the imported semen failure which
was very disappointing but sometimes you don’t realise what you have in
your own backyard. Lucas has produced some very nice bulls that have
length, growth and most importantly have good docility. In the three years
we used Lucas to tidy up after AI we vetted 100% in calf.
Please note that due to the scanning and scrotal measurements taking
place after 11th April EBV’s have not been updated on the data shown.
On sale day viewing will be from 11am. As usual those interested in earlier
pre-sale inspection are welcome to contact us and arrange a convenient
time for a private viewing.
We have full confidence that once more we are offering quality Limousin
bulls in this years offering.
