Atahua has been breeding Angus cattle for 60 years.
Our breeding philosophy has always remained constant:-
• Using EBVs and technology to achieve a balanced product for our clients,
while keeping the basics right.
• Structure, fertility and temperament. The bulls presented today have been an absolute
pleasure to work with, their temperament is outstanding.

Breeding cattle that have the ability to thrive and shift to anywhere in New Zealand – North and South.

We have been mating yearling heifers for 41 years.
• Heifers and cows must get in calf every year with no exceptions and raise a good calf. Calves are tagged
and weighed at birth.
• Calves are vaccinated twice with 7 in 1 as weaners
• At weaning calves are freeze branded for ease of identification
• All bull calves remain in one mob until they are weighed and scanned at 400 days. Accurate EBVs are
generated by comparing bulls run in one mob.
• All bulls are BVD blood tested clear and vaccinated twice
• We have been morphology testing our bulls with Hunterville vets for 16 years
• Atahua is C10 TB status

We will be holding our sale under the usual auction system but we will also be using the Online BIDR
auction, live streaming the sale also. You will find instructions in the catalogue about how to register as a
buyer prior to the sale.
