OBJECTIVES

LONGEVITY and FERTILITY
A large portion of the bulls in last years catalogue were from older cows who have been breeding well for many
years. Rangatira dams have natural maternal instincts and good milking ability regularly weaning their calves to
around 300kg. Fertility is directly related to the scrotal size in bulls. Our average scrotal measurement for the sale
bulls last year was 44cm
TEMPERAMENT: We aim to breed quiet, easily handled cattle. They are used to motorbikes, horses
and dogs.
CONFIRMATION AND STRUCTURAL SOUNDNESS IS PARAMOUNT
We are proud to say that all the cattle in our sale catalogue have been inspected for structural soundness and
confirmation by a New Zealand Angus Association Breed Inspectors and have passed inspection.

This Inspection service is offered by Angus New Zealand to breeding members as a form of quality assurance
and indicates that the animal has passed inspection on the specific day it was viewed. The inspection is
carried out by an approved Angus NZ Inspector, and animals of a minimum age which pass this inspections
may assume an “Independently Inspected” status and may be promoted under the associated Angus NZ
“Independently Inspected / AA Tick” logo.

Inspections are carried out in accordance with the Angus NZ Inspection Manual 2011.

RANGATIRA constantly evaluates and purchases top sires as well as retaining several of the studs own two year

old sires to use in the stud. All sires are selected for structural soundness, for the fertility and production of their

dam lines and sire backgrounds.

We calve on medium to steep hill country and calving problems are almost non existent in our herd. When
selecting our stud sires it is very important to us that the sire is smooth shouldered to ensure easy calving.

RANGATIRA cattle are grass and hay fed only.

RANGATIRA’S aim has always been to produce early maturing cattle, easy doing, meaty, with very good structure,

temperament, soundness and fertility.
