To all concerned,

A warm and hearty welcome to the Catalogue featuring a lifetime of breeding outstanding Angus
Cattle. The Dowding family have been at the forefront of East Coast Angus cattle over generations
and to their credit haven’t gone away from the basics that has made the Angus cow twice as
acceptable to our commercial farmers than any other breed in New Zealand. The basics are about
soundness and longevity and Charlie and Susie have been very strong on their selection of both sire
bulls and in the retention of the females going forward, that as you will see when inspecting the sale
catalogue all the cows, heifer calves and bull calves have been inspected and are all AA. I have viewed
all the cattle on inspection day along with Tom Suttor, Emma Pollitt and Grant Crawshaw and it was a
real treat to see the cattle across the concrete and just to see the strength of the Rangatira cow.
Predominately very deep bodied cows with super quality matron type heads with bone and natural
do ability that cattlemen would be proud to own and more importantly give a super strong base to
breed from. All breeders know full well the strength of your herd is the cow base and that
experiments with new bulls are part and parcel of a progressive herd structure. The Rangatira cow is
that type of cow that will enhance modern genetics without creating a new breed as such.

12 months isn't very long as time goes but it has been a long 12 months for us all, but out of adversity
comes opportunities and we now have more opportunities at this dispersal. The calves on the ground
are a treat to look at and a clear indicator of the strength of the herd. The sires chosen have clicked
particularly well and I am very confident that all intending purchases will enjoy the quality of calves
available. They will be well weaned and ready for their new homes. Very much like the owners of
these cattle they are very genuine and trustworthy and will provide any new owners with a lot of
pleasure and satisfaction and I look forward to selling this quality Angus herd.

           Regards,
           N W Clark
